Hi y'all this blog post is an excuse for me to go through my twitter bookmarks (with a handy dandy wheel) and watch some great wrestling. Randy Savage Jerry Lawler vs Rick Rude King Kong Bundy 9/10/1984 Savage and Lawler throw amazing punches, and as they beat up Rude, as the crowd roars. No better punches to be found anywhere in the land. The delayed lock up before Lawler losing the lock up, leading to Savage making the save is incredible pro wrestling. The stalling as Lawler sells the threat of Bundy is a perfect example of doing less but getting so much more out of it. Savage on the apron isn't physically involved in the match until his tag but is fantastic. These four are doing so little and I do not mean that in a bad way. I mean to say that they are getting so much out of every single thing they do, not a moment or an action wasted. The crowd reacts to every single thing they do. All four men have the crowd in the palms of their hands. The pop for Lawler knocking the hea...

Chilanga Mask August 11th 2015

This is a show I just saw one day scrolling through luchadb as one does and decided time to watch and review it.   Psycho Kid, Astro Rey Jr, Fulgor I, & Fulgor II vs Rey Apocalipsis, Tony Cisneros, Extreme Fly & Luz Clarita I do not know most people in this match, but I'm giving it a shot and hoping for the best. One of the luchadores is in full Wonder Woman drag, I do not know why, but he is kinda rocking it so will not complain. That's apparently exotico Luz Clarita and I love him already. I quite enjoy the early mat work here between one of the Fulgors and Rey Apocalipsis, it truly is excellent. This opening tag has blown away my expectations of nothing into it being a grand time. The brawling into the crowd rules. A quite fun opener this one. This is a step above your average opening 6 man tag and is quite good. Every wrestler has played their part exceptionally well, and the match's pace has built well from the mat work in the beginning, into massive dives and ...

Tradition

This will be a little different then my usual posts. I am going to be talking about my view on wrestling as a medium and also my personal views on things like the history and tradition in professional wrestling. The ideas of how the art form evolves as the decades pass and the newer generation continues to push the boundaries of what is physically possible. To preface I am not saying what once was is better, what I am aiming to say is that some things got lost during the continued innovation that has been, overall, truly great. Some of the things lost were intentional, some were not, nonetheless it was. I am going to choose two matches from a few weekends ago that can show how great a young wrestler desperately clinging to the traditions of the past can be. Xelhua is the focus of this post, and the two matches couldn't be in any more different locations. One was in the main event on a Friday night in Arena Mexico, the cathedral of Lucha Libre, the other was in Terrazza Elma for a...

UWF U-Cosmos

This show is the next show to take place in the new Tokyo Dome. The reborn UWF is our next promotion to run the Dome. Maeda had recently left NJPW again after another falling out with Management and continues to push the envelope on what wrestling can be. Tatsuo Nakano vs Shigeo Miyato Really frantic strikes out of a clinch to begin. The mat work is not either mans strength however the strikes out of a standing clinch is quite excellent. This is very much shoot style, two guys going for legitimate techniques centered around pro wrestling ideas and is done quite well. The standing work and grappling whilst standing is definitely the highlight of this match, whilst the grounded work is kinda just there. They do it cause they feel they have to. Miyato knocks downs Nakano but Nakano is able to meet the count but is quickly downed again in a flurry of action; is able to keep fighting through but Miyato finds a nasty variation of a half crab. Miyato is now the one to be knocked down by ...

ZERO-1 Max Genesis 2008

This is a card I saw a friend on Twitter mention wanting to find and I saw three of these matches and just knew I needed to watch and review it, boy am I glad I did.  Tengu Barron Tengu Kaiser vs Munenori Sawa Naoki Ueda Quick opening between Ueda and Tengu with holds traded, before the other the other Tengu tags in and is taken down by a shoulder block and a dropkick. This match is quite clipped but what is shown is pretty good all around. Tengus win after a splash by the red one. Get around 2 minutes of a 13 minute match. No rating due to it being that severely clipped. Koji Kanemoto Ryusuke Taguchi vs Shota Takanishi Tatsuhito Takaiwa Taguchi does a taunting dance as he is introduced that got a chuckle from me. Takaiwa and Kanemoto are jawing before the match as the old NJPW Jr. stalwarts begin this match. Incredible mat work, followed by heavy ass chops as expected. The mat work is beyond crisp and I could watch these two wrestle for eternity. Kanemoto is an ultra dick a...

UWA November 3rd 1991

This is my beginning of covering the famed UWA promotion.   November 3rd 1991. Opens with an announcer welcoming us to the arena before cutting to Alcatraz and Maria Teresa Medina giving us the black down of the card. Villano 1 Villano IV Villano V vs Black Power Rambo The England One of the Villanos and the England to start with llave work. The mat work is quite excellent as one would expect. Fully llave as it should be. Villano I I believe know in as is Rambo who quickly powders to the outside. Black Power and one of the Villanos working quickly now picking the match up off the mat before Rambo is tagged back in. Rambo is fantastic here however the Villanos as a team are fantastic eventually winning fall number 1 via role up. Continue to work with Rambo before Power tags in now to work over a Villano who quickly moves to the outside allowing another Villano to knock Black Power out of the ring. I enjoy all 6 men's work in this match. They are working quick after starting o...

Top Ten Matches from 8/25/2025-8/31/2025

Hi, This is my list of the top matches not from WWE/AEW of the week. I do allow myself to have ROH matches on this list just do to how little recognition it does get despite being a quite good product if a hair lacking. (Not listed here but do highly recommended the Adam Priest Workhorsemen vs Sky team match from the honorclub episode this week.) There are spoilers ahead, a ton of spoilers if that bothers you I do recommend just scrolling to see the match-ups and going to watch them then coming back. This will be a weekly article that I will be doing every week. Last week was truly a busy week with a ton of awesome wrestling.  10. Dream Star GP Day 7: Chika Goto vs Mayu Iwatani This match was in Chika's hometown meaning the crowd was red hot. Whilst Mayu is the icon and will be cheered a majority of the time this match was not one of them. In response Mayu worked this one leaning heel. I really enjoyed a more dominating Mayu when the audience wants nothing more then for Chika to w...
