UWA November 3rd 1991

This is my beginning of covering the famed UWA promotion.

November 3rd 1991.

Opens with an announcer welcoming us to the arena before cutting to Alcatraz and Maria Teresa Medina giving us the black down of the card.

Villano 1 Villano IV Villano V vs Black Power Rambo The England

One of the Villanos and the England to start with llave work. The mat work is quite excellent as one would expect. Fully llave as it should be. Villano I I believe know in as is Rambo who quickly powders to the outside. Black Power and one of the Villanos working quickly now picking the match up off the mat before Rambo is tagged back in. Rambo is fantastic here however the Villanos as a team are fantastic eventually winning fall number 1 via role up. Continue to work with Rambo before Power tags in now to work over a Villano who quickly moves to the outside allowing another Villano to knock Black Power out of the ring. I enjoy all 6 men's work in this match. They are working quick after starting on the mat. The rudos grinding down of Los Villano is fantastic truly excellent work. Match is beginning to drag in the second fall. Villano 4 hits several awesome planchas on Black Power and England. Before Los Villanos win the second fall to win the match.

55/80

We now cut to Tala Mendez reporting on the crowd and the large amount of families here to see Lucha Libre. As fans constantly especially kids try to get on camera.

Fishman Pegasus Kid The Killer vs Dos Caras Enrique Vera Villano III

Pegasus Fishman and Killer all jump the technico team allowing them to work over the faces. Pegasus targets the mask of Villano behind the back of the ref. Before focusing his assault on Villano's leg, Villano's selling is the stuff of dreams here. Caras and Vera try and make the save but its for naught as they are cut off again. This is the first time where Pegasus is actually interesting to me with Villano's impeccable selling. Pegasus even takes fall number one. Vera is the one in know cleaning house and keeping everyone at bay before he is caught by Fishman. The vets in Caras Fishman Vera Villano and Killer still have a lot to give here. Villano and Pegasus are back working and Villano continues selling his ass off in this match as Caras and Vera finally save the day. Villano enacting revenge on Pegasus on the outside with heavy punches that land flush. I believe Villano 3 won the second fall with a rana but am not sure cause they cut away from it, yes he did. Third fall starts with Vera and Killer before they move to the outside allowing Caras and Fishman to work here. Fishman has been my favorite of the rudos team in this one a burly dude who hits hard. Pegasus wins with his feet on the rope leading to an apoplectic crowd. This tag did its job of selling the rudos as bastards and the technicos being full of fire.

60/80

Jawing from Villano and Pegasus continues after the match likely leading to further hostilities.

Cut to a promo from Mil Mascaras before his main event with El Canek.

El Canek vs Mil Mascaras

Crowd is firmly behind Canek in this one but is still cheering at times for the man of a thousand masks. Starts on the mat with Canek having the advantage before being reversed by Mascaras who the crowd boos. The closed fist punches from Mascaras gets him in some hot water with the ref and crowd. Mascaras has a Fujiwara armbar in deep that Canek reverses, the fluidity from two men of this size is breathtaking. Before Mascaras wins fall number one with a submission. Mascaras has continued to work the arm-lock after the fall ended but Canek eventually finds a rope break to escape. Canek is the first to target the mask confusing me greatly about whose the rudo and whose the technico. Headbutting Mascaras at this point and continuing the assault on the mask. Canek wins with a press slam to even up the falls. I have seen enough Mascaras matches to know how the third fall will end. Crowd wants Canek and the workers are doing everything to get them to cheer Mascaras and it absolutely is not working. This is an odd match. In that it was good work by both men but the crowd outright rejects the match they are trying to have. The double DQ finish (as was expected.) Did not help matters at all. They also gave Canek a visual win ove Mascaras before the finish which is what the crowd actually wanted. The crowd wanted Canek and rejected the idea of Mascaras winning.

45/80

Was a fun 90ish minutes of wrestling, the first two matches were excellent. The final match had good work but sadly was not what the crowd wanted to see in any way. The crowd was great throughout, Los Villanos were a clear standout to me. A lot of the talent on this show were on the older side, working a more traditional style of Lucha Libre. However their age did not stop them from presenting a good TV product. This will be a weekly thing till I finish all the episodes on Roy Lucier's YouTube.
