Wrestlers of the Month February 2026

H i y'all it is time for another wrestler of the month list, same point format as last time which will be listed below. This was a weird month of wrestling, I watched more than I did in January, around 405 matches compared to 325 from January, but wrestlers didn't stand out across more than two or three matches as they did in January. Nonetheless, it was still a wonderful month for wrestling. Now onto the list. Here is how the breakdown of points works with .75 for 6 man tags. 0-2 = -1 (-.75) Point 2-2.5 = 0 Points 2.75 = 1 (.75) Point 3 = 2 (1.5) 3.25 = 3 (2.25) 3.5 = 4 (3) 3.75 = 5 (3.75) 4 = 8 (6) 4.25 = 10 (7.5) 4.5 = 12 (8) 4.75 = 14 (10.5) 5= 18 (13.5) 15 Feroz 24 Feroz was one of the standouts in the Torneo Escuela in CMLL representing Ultimo Guerrero. He also had a hell of a match with Judas el Traidor in Lucha Memes. He was a true standout in the Escuela finals. A genuinely awesome luchador who I pray sticks around in CMLL. Him and Estudiante were real solid in the fi...

Best Matches of January

#10 Saya Iida vs Chihiro Hashimoto 4.5 Sendai Girls 1/11 This is a very simple match concept executed perfectly. Two of the strongest workers currently in Joshi working a power for power match, laid out perfectly over a crisp 15 minutes. Hashimoto is one of the best big match wrestlers on planet earth at the moment, and this was another example. Iida held up her end of the match perfectly as well. She's turning into one of the better members of a loaded Stardom roster which is amazing to see. Just a fantastically worked match, by two fantastic workers. The German suplex Hashimoto hits in this match is the stuff of legend. #9 TX8 Macuarro vs Leon Roja Periko 4.5 Zona 23 1/18 Lets start off this section by saying Macuarro might be the best babyface in wrestling and Zona is his playground. Genuinely you could try to convince me he is an eldritch being who just spawns in for Zona shows then leaves and I would believe you fully. There's just something about a wild Macuarro brawl w...

Wrestlers of the Month January 2026

I would like to begin this article with a bit of background and clarifying information. I created a point system for myself based on my own match ratings for wrestlers of the year ranking purposes, will be using this points system to rank my top 15 every month. These will (try to) come out every first Friday of the month. Now an odd thing that you won't think about is what matches count for the month. For me personally am only counting, matches that happened during the month and aired before the first Friday of said month. My reasoning behind this is matches are taped and aired later all the time and cutting off the air date at the first Friday gives me time to do the math and write this article. Now any matches that do not count for wrestler of the month will of course count for wrestler of the year. Final match count that goes into these rankings is 323 matches. Will list the points break down here before we get into the rankings: 0-2 = -1 (-.75) Point 2-2.5 = 0 Points 2.75 = 1...

Bookmark Monday

Hi y'all this blog post is an excuse for me to go through my twitter bookmarks (with a handy dandy wheel) and watch some great wrestling. Randy Savage Jerry Lawler vs Rick Rude King Kong Bundy 9/10/1984 Savage and Lawler throw amazing punches, and as they beat up Rude, as the crowd roars. No better punches to be found anywhere in the land. The delayed lock up before Lawler losing the lock up, leading to Savage making the save is incredible pro wrestling. The stalling as Lawler sells the threat of Bundy is a perfect example of doing less but getting so much more out of it. Savage on the apron isn't physically involved in the match until his tag but is fantastic. These four are doing so little and I do not mean that in a bad way. I mean to say that they are getting so much out of every single thing they do, not a moment or an action wasted. The crowd reacts to every single thing they do. All four men have the crowd in the palms of their hands. The pop for Lawler knocking the hea...

Chilanga Mask August 11th 2015

This is a show I just saw one day scrolling through luchadb as one does and decided time to watch and review it.   Psycho Kid, Astro Rey Jr, Fulgor I, & Fulgor II vs Rey Apocalipsis, Tony Cisneros, Extreme Fly & Luz Clarita I do not know most people in this match, but I'm giving it a shot and hoping for the best. One of the luchadores is in full Wonder Woman drag, I do not know why, but he is kinda rocking it so will not complain. That's apparently exotico Luz Clarita and I love him already. I quite enjoy the early mat work here between one of the Fulgors and Rey Apocalipsis, it truly is excellent. This opening tag has blown away my expectations of nothing into it being a grand time. The brawling into the crowd rules. A quite fun opener this one. This is a step above your average opening 6 man tag and is quite good. Every wrestler has played their part exceptionally well, and the match's pace has built well from the mat work in the beginning, into massive dives and ...

Tradition

This will be a little different then my usual posts. I am going to be talking about my view on wrestling as a medium and also my personal views on things like the history and tradition in professional wrestling. The ideas of how the art form evolves as the decades pass and the newer generation continues to push the boundaries of what is physically possible. To preface I am not saying what once was is better, what I am aiming to say is that some things got lost during the continued innovation that has been, overall, truly great. Some of the things lost were intentional, some were not, nonetheless it was. I am going to choose two matches from a few weekends ago that can show how great a young wrestler desperately clinging to the traditions of the past can be. Xelhua is the focus of this post, and the two matches couldn't be in any more different locations. One was in the main event on a Friday night in Arena Mexico, the cathedral of Lucha Libre, the other was in Terrazza Elma for a...

UWF U-Cosmos

This show is the next show to take place in the new Tokyo Dome. The reborn UWF is our next promotion to run the Dome. Maeda had recently left NJPW again after another falling out with Management and continues to push the envelope on what wrestling can be. Tatsuo Nakano vs Shigeo Miyato Really frantic strikes out of a clinch to begin. The mat work is not either mans strength however the strikes out of a standing clinch is quite excellent. This is very much shoot style, two guys going for legitimate techniques centered around pro wrestling ideas and is done quite well. The standing work and grappling whilst standing is definitely the highlight of this match, whilst the grounded work is kinda just there. They do it cause they feel they have to. Miyato knocks downs Nakano but Nakano is able to meet the count but is quickly downed again in a flurry of action; is able to keep fighting through but Miyato finds a nasty variation of a half crab. Miyato is now the one to be knocked down by ...
