Wrestler of the Month March 2026
This was a very good month of wrestling with several intriguing tournaments that created massive highlights and unique matchups. This was the largest gap we have between number 1 and 2 as well as the best month anyone has had so far this year. I had a lot of fun with this month and it was a far more enjoyable time writing these lists this month. Similar to past months, a very good in-ring month for CMLL and Joshi, both dominating the top of this list. I have a feeling that will be a different story with Mania weekend upcoming.
Now onto the list.
#10 Blue Panther 29
Blue Panther is CMLL's resident beloved crazy old man jumping off of things he really shouldn't and delivering at a level that defies father time. The Satanico retirement match especially the final section exceeded any realistic expectation one could have and his match with Ultimo Guerrero delivered as one would expect. The connection he has with the audience is rare and he uses that to spectactular effect. Its like watching an older family member defy time one last time.
#9 Sareee 32
Sareee is the final boss of freelancers at this point. Popping up in almost every promotion and putting on great matches. My fave this time around was the Marvelous tag opposite Maria and Chikayo. However every match she has had is worth talking about as one of the true great freelancers who takes full advantage of this fact. I loved the Sareee-ism tag and I really liked the TJPW tag. Just another fantastic month for Sareee.
#8 Templario 32.25
Templario has continued to be one of the most consistent workers within the CMLL structure able to seamlessly slide into any role required and any spot within the card that is needed. A wonderful technico who has truly found his footing within the upper card of CMLL. More impossibly consistent than truly exceptional in March, but basically any main event tag is worth watching. My personal favorite is probably the tag opposite Averno and Black Tiger. (The former Magnus)
#7 Mascara Dorada 33.25
Dorada has continued his phenomenal year with another stellar month from wrestling's premier highflyers. One of the top technicos within CMLL given a shot to shine thoroughly whilst also working AEW and having an amazing match with Andrade. Dorada is no longer simply one of wrestlings fastest rising stars he is just a star at this point. Killing it week in week out within the world of CMLL and out of it on US television. A fantastic worker working at his best across the year.
#6 Miyu Yamashita 36
She has excelled in the opportunities given to her abroad this month either in EVE or on the TJPW Texas Tour. The Jamie Hayter match was special, the Shoko Nakajima match showed the very best TJPW has to offer. The Spark Rush tag match was oodles of fun. A fascinating worker in a very weird position within the structure of TJPW. She is in the position of having done any and everything there is to do in TJPW and that has left her kinda aimless this past year. However this month was incredible and the most focused work she has had in a long time.
#5 Averno 38.75
Averno is one of the purest rudos going in Lucha, a true throw back to a by gone age. Punching technicos right in the face and stealing masks making Satanico proud. An aging wrestler showing that sometimes you don't need all the physical tools to be compelling. The ongoing tension with Atlantis Jr. has created magical wrestling, as was his work in La Copa Infernal on Leyendas. The Lighting match with Xelhua was oodles of classic Lucha fun. Everytime Averno has a match announced its always lining up to be a treat. A true rudo's rudo inviting the jeers of the audience at every turn.
#4 Rina 41
Rina took full advantage of the Cinderella tournament to cement her status as one of the very best Stardom has to offer. The final with her sister Hanan is the standout, but honestly every one of her matches within the tournament were amazing. The Kurara match whilst not as great as the Hanan match was incredible. Outside of Stardom, for JTO she had a fantastic showing with Azusa Inaba. Two people who should be looked at as the present and future of Stardom. Rina is spectacular, genuinely a generational talent at just 19 years of age. She will only get better from here.
#3 Takumi Iroha 42
She really shines in tag action and especially alongside Sareee in Spark Rush. She did have my favorite singles affair she has had this year with Sora Ayame. I quite enjoy Spark Rush who are probably my tag team of the year so far. I have had my complaints about her work but there is nothing to gripe about here, just a fantastic month for Marvelous' top name. The Sareee-ism main event is the best match of the bunch, but the Spark Rush TJPW tag is incredible as is the one vs Chikayo Nagashima and Maria, which, whilst not as good as the Sareee-Ism tag, I find to be a more fun match.
#2 Ultimo Guerrero 42.75
UG had two of my favorite CMLL matches of the year this month with a rematch with both Claudio and Blue Panther. Panther Guerrero is one of the most surefire pairings in wrestling, and Claudio has fit like a glove within the hierarchy of cmll. It was odd to see UG play the hero against Claudio but he fit the role incredibly, and of course he is more then capable as a rudo opposite Panther, making sure the old man (affectionate) is safe on the insane dives. The Copa Infernal was one of the most fun matches of the year and UG was a massive part of making it work. UG is one of the most realiable workers currently in CMLL. I really enjoy UGs more classically rudo stylings and he is having a fantasitc year.
#1 Chihiro Hashimoto 70
Chihiro Hashimoto is the best wrestler on planet earth at this point and her March was proof of this with her work in WXW, Senjo and Sareee-ism. Having six 4* plus matches throughout the month, with several amazing standouts. My favorite personally was the Dani Luna match but the Manami and Kanji matches are also MOTYCs and the Sareee-ism tag is incredibly special. The ace of Sendai has continued to be a spectacular worker who's having an amazing year and will continue into April with a planned Syuri match. She was flown to Germany and put in front of a new audience and absolutely killed it. All 3 singles matches she had for WXW were spectacular and the Shire match had her in a role that is not entirely familiar to her, as the undersized babyface. One of the best workers on planet earth having a sterling month and the best month any one has had this year.
I really enjoyed march in terms of watching even if the highs were not as high just a really solid overall month.
